Targeted to employers who employ new Canadians and wish to provide them with improved English literacy, CareerQuest offers highly comprehensive on-site ESL training that is facilitated by certified TESL Instructors.
Some reasons employers provide on-site ESL training:
| Workplace Literacy Skills |
| Job and Industry Specific Vocabulary |
| General Literacy Upgrading |
| Quality Systems Audit Preparation (ISO 9001, ISO 14000, QS-9000, TS 16949, etc.) |
| Company Specific Modules |
Programs can be customized to focus on one or all of the four key areas of ESL learning: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The first step in developing a program is for a representative of CareerQuest to consult with the employer to assess specific needs. A program curriculum is then designed and presented to the employer to ensure those needs are met.
In general, a program will encompass areas such as pronunciation, vocabulary, spelling, writing/grammar, and reading comprehension by using materials, exercises, and activities geared towards providing adult students with relevant job specific language skills. However, programs can be customized to meet the unique needs of specific workplaces and can be expanded or limited as necessary depending on training needs, timelines, and budgets.
The program delivery schedule can also be customized to reflect the needs of the employer. Although a minimum group size of four workers is needed to run a program, the number of sessions per week and their lengths will be determined based on the demands of the workplace.
